This year Darling Cellars really rocked at the Rosé Rocks competition with the Pyjama Bush Rosé scooping up a double gold medal! - But even better… Darling Cellars Pyjama Bush Rosé was announced as the best wine on the show and received the Allan Mullins trophy for the highest scoring Rosé wine in the competition. WOW!
Allan Mullins, who sadly passed away in 2020, was the co-founder of this competition in 2015 and as the Panel Chair, his guidance and experience to the young team of judges over the years was a privilege to witness and experience.
To honour his memory, The Allan Mullins Award, which recognises the highest scoring rosé wine in the competition was introduced in 2021. This honour was bestowed on The Darling Cellars Pyjama Bush Rosé 2021 to be the first winner of this very special award. Pieter Niel Rossouw, head winemaker at Darling Cellars, says: ‘We are over the moon to receive this prestigious award. We aim to bottle the best of what nature gives us. To receive this recognition confirms that we are moving in the right direction and that our passion shows in the final product’.

The Pyjama Bush Rosé, named after a wildflower that grows in the Darling area, was carefully crafted from sauvignon blanc and grenache grapes and has an abundance of succulent strawberry, luscious cherry and raspberry flavours on the nose with subtle strawberry aromatics on the finish. For Darling Cellars, it also shows the versatility of Sauvignon Blanc from our area.
More good news is that Darling Cellars has just released this very special wine in a 2L Slimline BiB (Bag in Box). The 2L BiB is now selling at the tasting room and will soon be available at a retail outlet near you.
Be sure to get your hands on a bottle(or bib) of this award-winning Rosé from DarlingCellars. This wine is available at Checkers and other liquor outlets as well as from our tasting room.
