Darling Cellars made hearts beat faster when the results of the recent Veritas competition were announced. With two double golds and one gold medal, Darling Cellars has once again proved that this wine cellar on the West Coast needs to be recognised.

70 double gold medals were awarded in the competition this year and only 7 cellars were awarded two double gold medals. The double gold showpieces were awarded to the Lady Ann Darling 2019, a white wine blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon, as well as to the Winemakers' Selection Bukettraube 2020. Probably the first time in the history of Veritas that a bukettraube is awarded with a double gold medal! Bukettraube is currently a very rare cultivar and according to SAWIS information there are only 43.60 hectares available in South Africa. Darling Cellars is one of a very few cellars that bottles this cultivar.

A gold medal was awarded to the Gustus Shiraz 2018, while the Old Bush Vines Chenin Blanc 2019 and the Gustus Sauvignon Blanc 2019 were each awarded an outstanding silver medal. Darling Cellars also received a further 6 silver medals and 3 bronze.

According to Pieter-Niel Rossouw, Darling Cellars' head winemaker, him and his team are delighted with this great honour. "We know how important Veritas is, not only for us to measure the quality of  our wines against that of other producers, but also because it has been proven time and time again that the wine consumer regards the Veritas sticker as proof of quality."

The Platter Guide for 2021 ratings were also recently released and Darling Cellars' Old Bush Vines Cinsaut 2018 and Old Bush Vines Chenin Blanc 2019 both received 4½ stars. There were also 8 other wines rewarded with 4 stars!

The Chocoholic Pinotage 2018 received a gold award at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London and Darling Cellars is also proud of the three gold medals won by the Darling Cellars Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2020, Reserve Shiraz 2019 and Reserve Pyjama Bush 2020 at the Gold Wines competition. The Darling Cellars Brut Rosé MCC 2019 won a double gold medal at the Rosé Rocks competition as well as a gold for the Reserve Pyjama Bush Rosé 2020.

The display case at Darling Cellars is overflowing with medals and trophies and there is a lot of gratitude for the success achieved in this otherwise difficult year. The entire range of wines is available for tasting and sales at Darling Cellars' tasting room where light meals are also served. The wines can also be ordered online at darling cellars
