The Winemaker’s Selection range has been created to host some standalone premium wines that showcase the diversity of Darling Cellars as well as the Darling region. Only wines that receive the stamp of perfection from the cellarmaster, will be found in this range. The Winemaker’s Selection Bukettraube has recently been launched and finds itself a special place in this range.

Once a well-known and well enjoyed wine in South Africa…today only a few farms still make Bukettraube in South Africa. According to SAWIS statistics from 2019 there are approximately 44 hectares of  Bukettraube vines left in South Africa. At Darling Cellars we have access to 5,25 ha.

Grapes  from the vineyard growing on a north west facing slope and weathered granite to deep red and well drained soils are used to produce this unique wine. The cool South-westerly wind in the afternoons cools the vineyards down and this results in elegant fruit flavours in the wine.

The Winemaker’s Selection Bukkettraube is a semi-sweet wine with a good balance between natural sweetness and fresh acidity. It shows prominent Muscat flavours on the nose, accompanied by ripe stone fruit, white apple and interesting spices on the palate and finishes with a lingering aftertaste.

This wine is a great partner for a spicy curry dish in winter but can also be served well chilled on a hot summer’s day!

This wine is available at the cellar or online at https://shop.darlingcellars.co.za.
