We are thrilled to announce that the Old Bush Vines Cincaut 2015 received a Double Gold medal and the Old Bush Vine Chenin Blanc 2016 was rewarded a Gold medal at the Six Nations Wine Challenge.

The annual Six Nations competition includes the very best wines from Australia, Canada, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa and the U.S.A to judge and award the New World Champions. This Sydney, Australia based event is the only wine show in the world where wines are chosen exclusively by invitation from the Judges.

This is a very unique wine competition in that you are only allowed to submit your wines by invitation from one of the International judges.

According to Bob Campbell, Master of Wine New Zealand “Because the wines are all selected by each of the judges, the standard of wine quality must surely be higher than any competition of this size in the world”

The objective of the Challenge is to discover the New World Champions by inviting a judge from each country to choose their best wines and have them all compete against each other in a giant blind tasting of 600 wines. Each Judge is set the task of selecting 100 wines across the 15 Classes with a maximum of 10 in any one class – the best in their country regardless of company size or quantity available.

Pieter Niel Rossouw, head winemaker Darling Cellars says: ‘This shows that our premium range of wines is of excellent quality and that we can compete with the best in the world’

Darling Cellars Old Bush Vines Range comes from specific old bush vines which are selected for their uniqueness in prominent terroir flavours. These vineyards are planted in the best terroir for the specific varietal. Passion and respect for these old vines, have led to these beautiful and special wines.

The OBV Chenin Blanc 2016 also recently received a Gold medal at Veritas and was announced the best Chenin Blanc of the  Show at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.

The OBV Cincaut 2015 was awarded a Gold medal at Veritas.
